The Sam Middup Field was purchased by Woodborough Parish Council in December 2016. It is located behind Charnwood Way and Smalls Croft. A permissive footpath opened on the field in April 2021. This runs around the edge of the field. Entrances to the footpath are on Charnwood Way and on the footpath that runs past Manor Farm (off Lowdham Lane). The Parish Council require that dogs are kept on leads while using the permissive footpath.

A working party of residents and parish councillors was formed in 2025 to look at options to open the field for further leisure use.
