Background

Gedling Borough Council is consulting on its Local Development Plan and invites you to have your say. This overview of the background is a helpful introduction to a far reaching and broad plan for the borough until 2043.

Its scope includes delivery of the new homes required in the borough to meet UK government targets. A full set of maps can be found in the issues and options document from page 85.

Possible development sites - Woodborough can be found on page 98The consultation runs from 21st July until 1st September.

What to include in your response?

Woodborough Parish Council recognises that residents hold different views, but we are almost certainly united by a wish to limit any new housing to preserve the character of the village, manage flood risk and avoid further strain on our limited infrastructure.

Woodborough Parish Council has engaged the services of 2 planning consultancies to help advise residents and the parish council on how best to respond to the consultation to ensure that concerns raised are valid planning considerations, more likely to hold weight with the planing policy team.

Information and opinions were shared at the public meeting held on 6th August.

A short guide on how to respond

How do I get my response to Gedling Borough Council?

Gedling Planning Policy have asked that responses are submitted on this sheet (pdf) (or download an editable word version here, ideally by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you are unable to access email then responses by post can be sent to the Planning Policy Team, Gedling Borough Council, Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, Nottingham NG5 6LU.

You will notice that the response sheet allows for only one question to be answered per sheet. Planning consultant Anthony Northcote advises that this response sheet is designed for Gedling's convenience but you are also able to write a letter or email with your views and legally it must be considered. You must include your contact details on a letter or email for it to be valid.

You may also have views that do not fit readily under any of the 107 questions in the consultation. Again it is fine to express these in a letter or email which includes your contact details - Gedling have to consider them.

Please ensure that you send your views directly to Gedling Borough Council by email or by post before the deadline on 1st September.
